100 Chess Logic Puzzles is a puzzle book of 100 deduction puzzles that put a logic grid and a chess problem on the same page. Each is played in two steps: read the clues and place the white king, rook, bishop, knight and pawn on a board divided into the rooms of a chess club, one piece in every row, every column and every room, then find the one square where the black king is checkmated. There are four levels, from Easy on 4×4 boards to Expert on 5×5 boards where no row or column is ever given. The book has a page showing how each piece attacks, a solved example, and every solution at the back with the mating square. Every puzzle was checked by computer before printing, with one way to place the pieces and one mating square. The same puzzles can be played free in the browser on this site.
